Quick Tip: Increase Strokes Per Minute=Increase Speed (Sometimes)

We have been studying the utilization of Strokes Per Minute (SPM) Analysis for increased overall speed. All other things equal, increasing SPM is key for going faster whether racing, fitness paddling, or getting back to shore to beat the storm!

We have been experimenting with using a digital metronome that adjusts to any desired stroke per minute. Early indicators it’s a huge success! For the auditory processing and cueing of the brain and central nervous system to hear or feel the beeps/ticks it’s been a game changer. Try it and let us know what you think!

If you find it difficult to maintain correct form while increasing SPM, then it’s time to STOP trying to go faster and instead focus on correcting form. Remember, practice can’t make perfect if you’re not practicing properly.
