Quick Tip: Time for a Timing Change

I love to study the technique and style of all performance paddlers. I don’t limit my learning to just paddle boarding either. I feel all paddle sports have something relevant to offer. I even reference skiing, dance, strength and conditioning, swimming…the list goes on.

One thing I’ve noticed is how quick and decisive the forward paddle stroke is for accomplished paddlers from any sport! Many internet articles and videos are very dated and don't do the modern technique justice. The intricacies of stroke timing are incomprehensible for many regarding how short the cycle is. In our coaching, we no longer use the instruction “take your paddle out at your feet”.

That reference can create a cascade of issues for the performance paddler because in certain tactical, environmental, and balance opportunities you may need to go past the feet. Stay tuned for videos and articles on what the Forward Stroke 5.0 is all about. In the meantime, please feel free to book us for a private performance lesson and be prepared to paddle at a level you’ve only dreamed about.
